Job Description

BlueWave is hiring an Assistant Director, Engineering & Safety for an entertainment/hospitality client with headquarters in Orlando, FL. As Assistant Director, Engineering & Safety, you will be responsible for:
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Full oversight of ride and show scopes
  • Lead and manage 10–15 direct reports
  • Provide senior leadership across:
  • Engineering
  • Vendors
  • Internal stakeholders
  • Enforce all applicable safety standards:
  • Own high-level decision-making across schedule, budget, and execution
  • Maintain leadership presence in a challenging, isolated project environment  
  • Oversees $350M–$400M total project budget
  • Responsible for:
  • Financial strategy
  • Legal coordination
  • Backcharges and claims
  • Change orders
  • Internal governance and approvals
  •  Project management software
  • MS Office / Teams
  • Spreadsheets
  • Typical drafting software - AutoCAD  
    Requirements: 
    • 10+ years of relevant experience
    • Willingness to move to China in future
    • Mechanical engineering preferred
    • Electrical background acceptable if:
    • Strong leadership track record
    • Experience managing large-scale, complex projects
  • Prior themed entertainment experience strongly preferred Job specifics: 
    • Employment Type: Full-Time in Orlando, FL for 12-16 months -> relocate to Beijing for 12-16 months. Full benefits package included.
