Job Description

BlueWave is looking for a Electro-Mechanical Design Drafter  to join a global  simulation company who manufactures  various training simulators including aircraft, weapons, maritime, and ground vehicle simulators, as well as related hardware components.

  • Responsible for the creation of detail drawings, assembly drawings, and illustrations from Sketch or 3D solid models
  • Responsible for communicating with Engineering Department personnel as needed to create drawings
  • Responsible for making sure all drawing information is accurate and updated according to company  procedures
  • Responsible for the research and specification of major and critical dimensioning when applicable and correct tolerance of parts and/or assemblies when detailing
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
  • Responsible for generation of complete and accurate Bill of Materials and parts list
  • Responsible for checking drawing/design packages of self and others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and overall quality
  • Responsible for incorporating red-lines and Engineering Change Notices
  • Independently develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish assigned tasks
  • Provide development assistance with the upgrade of the company' s Engineering standards and procedures
  • Provide training assistance and support to others in the department as needed

  • Must possess an understanding of generating 2D drawings from 3D models
  • Our primary modeling and drafting tool is Autodesk Inventor but will train if necessary
  • Candidate must have a working knowledge of ASME drafting standards
  • Candidates must have excellent organizational and time management skills as well as be self-motivated and able to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Candidates must also have the ability to multi-task and collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering designers
  • An ideal candidate would have experience with Department of Defense mechanical drafting, familiarity with Navy, Army, and/or Air Force simulation training
