BlueWave is looking for a Business Development Associate for a  mid-market investment bank that advises tech companies on mergers and acquisitions, raising capital and strategy. The current  team has successfully grown and built four other tech investment banking groups.  Their clients are growth technology companies as well as their venture capital, private equity and other institutional shareholders and board members.

As a Business Development Associate, your main goal will be to build a pipeline of prospective clients for the firm. You will source new potential clients by leveraging the existing relationships of the firm’ s bankers and your own business development skills. You will interact directly with technology executives, venture capitalists and private equity investors and you will have the opportunity to directly play a meaningful role in the growth of the firm.

  • Build and manage a pipeline of potential clients through business development efforts, that include phone calls, emails and industry conferences, with the goal of converting prospects to new clients for the firm
  • Set up a high volume of introductory and follow-on calls with the management teams of prospective clients as well as with investors (both venture capitalist and private equity funds)
  • Utilize our current referral and contact network to facilitate new opportunities while also expanding the network of the firm
  • Overcome high level objections and qualify/screen leads appropriately
  • Prepare and deliver presentations about our firm
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all activity and regularly report metrics to senior bankers about your progress

  • You have 2-5 years of B2B sales experience. Those with experience in investment banking, venture capital private equity, financial services and enterprise software are preferred
  • You have experience interacting with high-level decision makers of companies
  • You have a proven ability to meet/exceed specific, quantified goals
  • You have high energy and are able to enthusiastically complete a large call volume to companies
  • You have excellent, highly professional written and verbal communication skills
  • You can build long term relationships with prospective clients
  • You have excellent organization skills including attention to detail, follow-ups, and work ethic
  • You’ re a self-starting team player who can excel in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, challenging work environment
  • You’ re awesome at Microsoft Office 365
  • Experience working within an investment bank, VC firm, PE firm (a plus!)
  • Experience working in a sales environment for an enterprise software company (a plus!)
  • Desire to eventually become an investment banker working on technology M&A (a plus!)
  • Experience working with CRM software solutions
  • Analytical and modeling skills a plus, but not necessary
